Benefits of Electronic Component Kitting

A professionally prepared component kit simplifies production while improving efficiency throughout the manufacturing process.

Component Kitting

Electronic Component Kitting Services

Electronic component kitting is a streamlined supply chain solution that organizes and delivers all required components for a PCB assembly project in a single, production-ready kit. Instead of sourcing parts from multiple vendors and managing separate shipments, manufacturers receive a complete kit containing verified electronic components, clearly labeled and organized according to the Bill of Materials (BOM). This approach reduces procurement complexity, minimizes production delays, and ensures that assembly teams have the right components available when needed.

Knowledge Base

Kitting & Procurement FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our turnkey component sourcing, BOM verification, counterfeit mitigation, and consigned inventory management.

01. What is a PCB kitting service?

PCB kitting is a comprehensive supply chain service where we procure, organize, verify, and package all the individual electronic components (as dictated by your Bill of Materials) required for a specific PCB assembly project before releasing them to the manufacturing floor.

02. Why should I use your kitting services instead of buying parts myself?

Outsourcing kitting saves you immense time, overhead, and logistical headaches. Our dedicated procurement team leverages bulk purchasing power, handles multiple vendor shipments, tracks down hard-to-find parts, and ensures 100% BOM accuracy, completely eliminating assembly delays caused by missing components.

03. How do you ensure you buy the exact parts specified on my BOM?

We follow your Approved Vendor List (AVL) and Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) strictly. Our automated ERP system checks for exact alphanumeric matches. If your BOM lists approved alternatives, we may use those; otherwise, we never substitute a component without explicit engineering approval from your team.

04. What happens if a component is obsolete or out of stock?

If a part is End of Life (EOL) or has unworkable factory lead times, our engineering sourcing team proactively researches viable drop-in replacements or cross-references. We then present these options, complete with datasheets, for your engineering team to approve before purchasing.

05. Do you buy from authorized distributors to prevent counterfeit parts?

Yes. We mitigate counterfeit risks by purchasing exclusively from fully authorized, franchised distributors (such as Digi-Key, Mouser, Arrow) or directly from the component manufacturers. For hard-to-find legacy components, we only use heavily vetted, AS6081-certified independent brokers.

06. How do you verify the components once they arrive at your facility?

Our Incoming Quality Control (IQC) team inspects every shipment upon arrival. We verify part numbers via barcode scanning, check quantities, inspect for physical damage, ensure moisture barrier bags are intact, and cross-reference the shipment against your exact BOM requirements.

07. Can I consign (supply my own) parts for the assembly?

Absolutely. We offer fully consigned, partially consigned (mixed), and full turnkey kitting. If you have proprietary, custom, or pre-purchased inventory, you can ship it to our facility, and we will kit it alongside the standard components we procure for you.

08. How do you handle Moisture Sensitive Devices (MSDs) during kitting?

MSDs are handled in strict compliance with J-STD-033 standards. They are kept in their vacuum-sealed packaging until the exact moment of kitting and assembly. If a seal is broken or compromised, the parts are stored in dry cabinets or baked in specialized environmental chambers to remove moisture before reflow.

09. Do you account for component attrition (wastage) during kitting?

Yes. SMT pick-and-place machines require a small amount of extra leader tape to feed properly, and microscopic parts occasionally drop. We automatically calculate and procure the standard overage (attrition) percentages required to guarantee you receive your full requested yield of assembled boards.

10. Can you hold inventory for scheduled blanket orders?

Yes. For high-volume or recurring production runs, we can procure the entire lot of components upfront to secure bulk pricing and mitigate supply chain shortages. We will warehouse the kits securely and release them to the assembly floor based on your scheduled delivery dates.
